The epic duel between SK and DA Summary of all posts by GodSwift, Mytza, Aahx, Gorefest, Astaroth, Ryltar, diamond, abec, spes, kholdstare, valador, connovar, kraker. Point of view: SK Pro's: - Good INT = Better M.Atk AND increased chance to land a debuff - Good WIT = Better casting speed, better root resistance, better chances for a magic crit - Good MEN = Better M.Def and better debuff resistance. - Cubics (Wind Shackle), Sting, Hex, Powerbreak, Freezing Strike, Poison, Lightning Strike, Judgment, Arrest = 9 possible buffs less if the DA is fully buffed Con's: - Low Constitution, vulnerable to stun - Guard Stance consumes a lot of MP How to deal with a Panther: Method 1. - Resummoning takes pretty long, could be canceled and consumes a lot of mp, therefore it's a solution to kill the panther first Method 2. - Use the panther as a hp battery, abuse the low mdef of summons, constantly root it (note: arrest does not last long) Solution 1: - Nuke the cat until it dies, abuse the low mdef - Use guard stance and fortitude while the panther is alive Solution 2: - Nuke the cat with "Life Leech" after a failed stun, redo your arrest after that Kiting 1. Kiting is not effective : - Hamstring effect 3 (note: -50% in c5) - Freezin strike effect 2 (note: +100% in c5) - Rooting is a waste of mp - Fast panther - Hate makes it difficult to kite 2. Kiting is not effective while the panther is alive Hex vs. Powerbreak: - Use Hex to shorten the fight (causal chain: less hits = less time = less mp = more mp to use your toggles overall and in particular at the end); - Note: Do not hex the panther, use PowerBreak then and nuke it Tactics: - Start with Lightning Strike + Power Break on the Panther if you follow Method 1 to debuff him and to reduce his damage output, - Avoid getting stunned while both (DA + Panther) are hitting you; Use fortitude (ST Skill) + GS while fighting the panther - once it's dead stop it and save some mp for the end - Order of nukes AFTER a stun: Poison,Drain Health,Freezing Strike, Power Break, Hex (note: this is only possible with +WIT or SoM Acumen) - Do not waste your MP with Arrest, but use it to get some room to cast lightning strike on the DA once it's ready - Manage your mp, keep enough MP to boost your Pdef at the end of a fight (less than 25%HP --> final fortress bonus) Possible Setup (abec's setup): Weapon: Dark Legion Edge with Health +25%HP Armor: Majestic Set Bonus: P. Atk. +4%, Accuracy +3, Stun Resistance +50%, STR+2 and Con-2. Tatoos: -4 DEX +4 CON -4 INT +4 WIT Strength 43 Dexterity 30 Consitution 34 Intelligence 21 Wit 16 Mental 26 (+) +25% Max HP bonus +12% Melee dmg output bonus[Majestic Set Bonus: +4% P. Atk. and +2str (= 8%)] +2 Contitution (~200 HP more and increased stun resistance) +50% Stun resistance (Maj) +22% Casting speed +Better spell cooldown and better root resistance. +1 accuracy (+3 from Maj -2 from tatoo) (-) -14% M.atk.(-4 Int) -4 Run speed -4% block rate Interlude: - Note that shields will increase the mdef and can block nukes completely, concentrate on the most important debuffs only if you are fighting the DA - While you are fighting the panther use your nukes just like before Overall: To summarize it: The "best" way is to kill the panther straight by nuking it, after that you have to concentrate on the DA. Use your physical strength and a possible stun resistance (Majestic Set) to literally show him your strength. Make use of your debuffs to make him loose as many buffs as possible if it's not a self-buffed fight. Point of view DA: Pro's: - DA have the best mdef unbuffed due to Iron Will - Huge amount of CON - Great Base PDef Con's: - Relies on his stun and panther - Lower Base STR - Lower Base INT;WIT;MEN (note: their drain is nonetheless an efficient nuke) Equipment: - Nightmare: Vulnerable to LS, DoTs and debuffs, but root resistance and +con - Tallum: Protection against DoTs, vulnerable to arrest, LS, debuffs ; Poison cubics ignores Set Bonus. - Dark Crystal: Protection against LS and +con, vulnerable to anything else - Majestic: Less Con, useless stun protection, but more pattack Tactics: - Make sure to tell your buffer to buff important buffs at the END e.g. BTB, Shield, Haste2, DW, Guidance etc. - Try to chain stun the SK (constantly keep up the stun), try to avoid canceling it, let the panther attack - Use Hamstring to slow the SK, use Shackle to root him and use your Shield Stun to cancel his spells. - Pay attention and especially try to cancel his lightning strike, his most feared weapon - If he is trying to melee fight you don't forget to use Judgment to lower his crit rate.
